The past two weeks have been absolutely awesome! Last week, we got a call that I would be getting a brand new missionary, and that I would be introducing him to the mission field. I went to Frankfurt on Tuesday, and met up with a ton of other missionaries, and then was assigned to my new companion. His name is Elder Stanojevic and he is from Berlin, and can speak perfect German, what a blessing that is!! Haha! We came back on Wednesday, and the miracles began! I wanted to share one miracle with y'all, and it has to do with a small Nigerian man named Israel.
We found Israel in the train, and he was looking at us like he knew us, so I turned to him and started talking to him. He talked with us for a minute, and then we noticed that he was feeling a little down. We told him that God loves him, and a few other small things. He seemed to feel a little better, but he needed to get out at the next stop. We were on our way to an appointment, but I got the feeling that we should get out with him. We did, and he took us back to his apartment.
I kid you not, this man was living in the poorest little place. There was an old run-down warehouse that he took us into, and we walked up 2 flights of stairs and then into this hallway where we turned right and he opened a door leading into a tiny room, about the size of a walk in closet( 8-10 feet long and about 3-5 feet wide). He had a bed in there with a shelf, and a few personal items, and that was all.
He had been living there for a while, and he actually opened up to us a little about his life story, and explained that he is illegal, and that he has actually previously been deported from Germany, and that he just doesn't know what to do. Now normally I wouldn't have sympathy for illegals, but you could just see how sad he was, and how he really doesn't know what to do.
We really hammered him with Jesus Christ, and tried to help him understand how much God and Jesus love him, and you could kinda see his soul lift up throughout our time. We gave him a blessing of comfort, and also even invited him to be baptized. He said that he would want to, but obviously he can't be illegal, so we will have to work on that! Haha! But now he knows, and maybe he will go back to Nigeria or something and join the church there, or things will work out for him here.
Afterwards we left and headed back home, and it was just such a humbling experience, I really appreciated that one.
Other than that, there wasn't anything too crazy. There were definitely small miracles, and other things, but that was the banger for the week! Haha!
I hope y'all are doing good back home, and thank you all for the birthday wishes! At my meetings on Thursday, my phone was constantly buzzing! Y'all are awesome!
Also, we went to a cool park/castle today, and Ill send some pictures with this email!
Liebe Grüße,
-Elder Trussell
